I had been watching some Barn Owls nest, and fledge and so I dug out an old photo I took of one and painted it. There's going to be a second soon to accompany it, of possibly a Tawny. It's going to mirror it and hopefully be sold together.
I recently read about old composition techniques and I was very aware of all the diagonals here. Everything points to the top corner to try and make it as grandiose as possible.
I kept on losing edges against the sky so I had to do a lot of playing around with values to get it right. I think in the end it's pretty good.
